The Ossining School District's Interscholastic Athletic Program is a natural extension of the school curriculum that provides activities for the growth and development of our students.
This program also contributes significantly to preparing our students for becoming productive, contributing citizens of our community and society. A comprehensive program of athletic activities expresses our commitment to ensure the development of physical fitness and personal health, the acquisition of competent performances, and the achievement of excellence in the student's chosen sport.
Ossining Athletics COVID-19 Health & Safety Protocols
All sports will practice and compete during the 2021-2022 school year in compliance with the health & safety protocols listed below. These protocols have been derived from and will be updated based on New York State and local health department mandates. Testing and Vaccination Status We will ask all student athletes to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination status when they register on Family ID. Students participating in high risk sports (basketball, wrestling, ice hockey) will be required to participate in weekly COVID-19 screening tests during the sports season. Students participating in high risk sports may opt-out of mandatory weekly COVID-19 tests by providing proof of full vaccination for COVID-19. Students that do not provide proof of full vaccination, must get tested weekly and show proof of their lab-confirmed negative test result before Monday’s practice or they will not be allowed to participate. Tests must be completed no more than 48 hours prior. Families can choose any site to be tested. Click here for a list of testing sites. Unvaccinated students that have contact with a positive Covid case during their season are subject to being quarantined from school and the team.
Athletes experiencing any symptom on COVID-19 list may not attend athletics or school. They must contact the OHS School Nurse for return to school requirements.
Throughout the winter season, there are various outside venues that are used for athletic events. For instance, in the sports of Indoor Track and Field, Boys Swimming, Ice Hockey, and Gymnastics, outside venues are the primary location for competitions and practices. With that, many of them may have specific COVID-19 protocols and practices that we must abide by. Additionally, with the situation being fluid, many of these venues may alter their practices at any point during the season.
Boy’s Ice hockey is a merged program and will be held at Westchester Skating Academy. Practices will start on November 16th and be held Tuesday from 4:40-5:40pm and Wednesday 8:10-9:10pm (school transportation not provided)

Face Masks and Social Distancing Face Masks: Face masks must be worn by all staff, students and visitors in school buildings and on school supplied transportation. Acceptable face coverings for COVID-19 include but are not limited to cloth-based face coverings and disposable masks that cover both the mouth and nose. Masks with exhalation vents or valves should not be worn at school/during school sports. Face masks are not required during gymnastics while performing skills; or swimming or diving while in the water because of the risks outlined.. Locker Rooms and Bathrooms Locker rooms will be available to Ossining teams for changing clothes and storage purposes. All teams will have access to bathrooms. All people, regardless of vaccine status, must wear a face mask in locker rooms and bathrooms. Travel Face masks will be required on school sponsored transportation for all staff and students regardless of vaccination status. A bus seating chart will be kept for contact tracing. Positive Cases, Contact Tracing, Quarantining and Isolation Student-athletes who test positive for COVID-19 will follow Isolation Protocol as directed by the WCDOH. In order to return to school/sports, ALL of the following must be submitted to the OHS School Nurse:
A “Release from Isolation” notice from the Department of Health
A written note stating clearance to return to school from the healthcare provider
At least 72 hours fever free without the use of fever reducing medications.
Spectators In school buildings, all spectators are required to wear face masks. Outdoors, spectators who are not fully vaccinated are encouraged to wear face masks in crowded spaces when there is sustained contact of 3 feet or less with others. Live Video Stream Links Games will be live streamed (locallive) for spectators to the extent possible.
